Pushi Town is located in the southeast of Luxi County, on the west bank of the middle reaches of Yuanshui River. It’s a famous historical and cultural town in China and a key tourist town in Hunan Province.

As a famous historical and cultural town and one of the “four ancient towns” in Xiangxi, Pushi Town has a 7,800-year-old Xiawan Site, 3 existing historical blocks, 2 historical relics, 174 historical buildings, intangible cultural heritage such as Chenhe High-pitched Tunes, as well as ecological and natural landscapes such as Gaoshanping Ancient Post Road.
Pushi Town increases efforts in the protection and development of the ancient town. It invested 350 million yuan in the protection and renovation of the ancient town, completed the antique project of Pushi Ancient Town, built 16 provincial cultural relics protection units into scenic spots, and renovated 22 historical and cultural residential blocks. It has created high-quality tourism routes covering 12 scenic spots from the tourist center to Wanhe Garden.
Relying on the rich historical and cultural heritage of Pushi Ancient Town, it has vigorously promoted the construction of the most beautiful and characteristic town, Xiawan Gaomiao Cultural Archaeological Site Park, and ethnic cultural commercial street, and strived to build the town into a museum of Chinese living folk culture.
More than 200 volunteers were organized to carry out environment improvement actions in urban areas.
A series of theme activities like Zhongyuan Prayer Festival and Laba Festival were held, effectively promoting the protection and inheritance of ethnic minority culture, and making the ancient town revitalize through tourism.
Rural revitalization
In early winter, 30 mu (2 hectares) of winter peaches are ripe in an ecological agricultural industrial zone in Mawangxi Village, Pushi Town. The large grower Shi Haisheng greets guests who come to pick peaches while quickly harvesting the reserved ones.
“The base adopts a model of sightseeing picking and online and offline sales, with a total sales volume of 12,000 kg and a sales revenue of 192,000 yuan,” Shi Haisheng said happily.
In recent years, Mawangxi Village has deeply implemented the rural revitalization strategy. It has built an integration development model with the ceramic landscape and cultural street as the central axis, driving the growth of the surrounding ceramic processing industrial park, leisure experience park, rural cultural and tourism park, modern agricultural park, and amusement park as a whole.
